True Story. Every couple of months, the university's dining halls have a week long special featuring foods from some other region of Japan. Last week was their “沖縄と九州フェア”. I walked in yesterday the minute they opened for lunch, having skipped breakfast. I said to myself "I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse!"
Surely enough, I was given that opportunity. Pretty sure it was sashimi. I have been working on getting pictures together for other sections of the site, so once that's taken care of, expect a more lengthy update.

Did it taste like chicken?

I have had raw chicken'n'eggs here as well. Raw chicken still tastes pretty much like you'd expect raw chicken to taste. Raw horse meat tastes, um... well don't know if I've eaten a raw red meat before, only fish and poultry, but it was nothing like chicken. I can't imagine raw beef tasting like that either. More of bland taste, heavy on muscle tissue. Made me want to gag the first bite I had... but by the last piece, I was more or less used to it. One of my friends from Belgium was like "What's the problem? We eat this all the time."
I've seen an uncooked egg served with a bowl of rice for breakfast on T.V. in Japan... I think one is s'posed to break the egg into the rice... is that how you had it raw? Obviously Salmonella is not an issue then...
As to the horse, I thought you were kidding about eating it...
I am truly not worthy...
Brave man...
I also plan not to get shipwrecked on an island or survive a plane crash on a mountain with you... (hmmm... he looks kinda tasty...)
